All Roads Lead To Coffee

It’s back round to those pesky January exams and I’m currently in a stress-filled craze trying to cram in more revision than there’s hours of the day. One of my biggest helpers for revision is a nice warm mug of coffee to wake me up, get my energy levels going, and really motivate me to keep working.

My sometimes unhealthy caffeine addiction is something which can be negative at times, such as when I forget a cup and get hideous headaches. However, multiple studies have shown that caffeine helps boost the brains memory, energy levels, reaction times and general mental function. All of which assist when revising.

Coffee has also been shown to improve your mood. Which for me is important as during revision I normally get overly stressed, and have limited socialisation. So having a little boost every day helps keep me sane.

Plus, I’m one for lazing in my sweats all day if I’m not leaving the house or having guests. So when I know I need to be productive, ensuring I get dressed, do my makeup and have breakfast with a strong cup of coffee puts me in the right mindset. I often do this to ‘trick’ my brain into thinking it’s time for work and that motivates me for the rest of the day.

It’s not just ordinary black coffee or lattes either. I’ve recently been trying out some Union Hand-Roasted Coffee which has multiple flavours. This little change up makes my morning coffee so much better as I can switch depending on my mood – which also keeps me from getting into more of a rut than a routine. (It also gives me more options when I have guests who don’t appreciate the strong coffee I normally opt for!)

One of my choices was the Bobolink Coffee which is a light roast, and I came ready ground to fit in my french press. It’s a smooth coffee that’s not too strong – so perfect for when I have guests round. The notes of morello cherry, macadamia and milk chocolate were minimal so you don’t need to worry about any overbearing tastes, which was a worry I first had when looking through the site. It’s a nice, easily drinkable coffee which gives me the caffeine kick I need, whilst not being overly strong.

  1. Goodluck for the exams !

I loved this little blogpost around coffee <3 working in a coffeeshop, I learned mild roasts actually has the highest caffeine level but lowest "coffee taste"; opposed to the dark roast that you taste more, but is low on caffeine

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it as it’s a bit different to my normal posts!
And that’s good to know – I knew there was a difference but I think I always get the caffeine content mixed up! ❤

  2. The caffeine headaches are real. I’ve only started drinking coffee the last couple weeks and I am in love with latte’s. I didn’t understand people’s love of coffee before but the taste of dipping a biscuit into a hot coffee has changed my life!
