Achieving the perfect brow can seem like an elusive goal, but with the right tool, it becomes a reality. Enter the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – a cult favorite in the beauty community. This ultra-slim, retractable pencil promises to deliver natural, defined brows with ease. But does it live up to its stellar reputation? Let’s explore the features, performance, and overall value of this iconic brow pencil.
It’s strange to think about how many years I’ve been filling in my eyebrows, but for many years I was using blonde or brown pencils. That was until Anastasia Beverly Hills came into the picture with their products in the shade Auburn. I’ve tried using their dip brow pomade (which I loved!) but I’m lazy with my makeup and pencils are usually much quick to use. So that’s when I picked up Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz.
Where to Buy
How To Use
Brush eyebrows into correct shape with spoolie

Fill in gaps with short quick strokes that follow your natural hair.
Brush through with spoolie again to blend and create a natural look
First Thoughts
The Brow Wiz immediately impresses with its sleek, minimalist packaging. Its slim design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical, allowing for precise control and easy portability. The dual-ended pencil features a retractable tip on one end and a spoolie brush on the other, making it a convenient all-in-one tool for brow grooming and shaping.
I’m normally using brow products to fill in and define by eyebrows because my natural hair is quite light. So using a pencil is normally pretty quick for me as they’re often easy to use, and they’re not too harsh.
ABH’s Brow Wiz uses the exact same shade of the dip brow pomade, but because it’s a pencil and not a gel it allows it to be quicker to apply. This quickness is mainly down to how I blend out my eyebrow products though. I often use the spoolie to blend the harsh lines out a bit, where I’m aiming for a natural but darker look to frame my eyes. If you’re going for the old “Instagram” brow though, a gel may be better suited and will probably last longer in a defined line.
Shade Range and Versatility
One of the standout aspects of the Brow Wiz is its extensive shade range. With 10 different shades, there’s a match for virtually every brow color, from the lightest blonde to the deepest ebony. This diversity ensures a natural look for all users.
- Blonde: Suitable for light blonde hair with warm/cool undertones.
- Taupe: Ideal for dark blonde/light brown hair with cool undertones.
- Soft Brown: Great for light to medium brown hair with warm/cool undertones.
- Medium Brown: Perfect for medium brown hair with cool undertones.
- Dark Brown: Suitable for dark brown hair with a warm tone.
- Chocolate: Ideal for medium brown hair with warm undertones.
- Ebony: Great for black hair with a warm undertone.
- Granite: Suitable for black hair with a cool undertone.
- Auburn: Perfect for red hair with a warm undertone.
- Caramel: Ideal for light brown hair with a warm/golden undertone.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is an ultraslim brow pencil, which gives you much more control. I both liked and didn’t like this. I liked it because it helped me define by eyebrows much easier, and I felt like I made less mistakes over the weeks I was using it. I didn’t like it as it took longer to fill in the brow. I’ve used the ABH Brow Definer before, which has a diamond tip – and this was much faster to actually use.
Despite taking longer than the Brow Definer, it took less time than gel brows and in general it’s just super easy and intuitive to use. You just grab the pencil, define your brows, spoolie and done. Perfect for my every day makeup and it being in the Auburn shade just makes it 10 times better.
Application and Performance
The Brow Wiz is designed for precision. Its ultra-fine tip allows for detailed strokes that mimic natural hair, making it easy to fill in sparse areas and shape your brows with accuracy. The formula strikes a perfect balance between waxy and creamy, ensuring it glides on smoothly without smudging or fading throughout the day.
To use the Brow Wiz, simply twist up the pencil, and apply light, feather-like strokes to define and fill in your brows. Use the spoolie brush to blend and groom for a natural finish. The buildable formula lets you achieve anything from a subtle enhancement to a bold, defined look.
After Use
Ignoring my lockdown eyebrows which really need a good waxing – This is what my brows look like when using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I think my brows look pretty natural whilst still framing my eyes and face well.
You can pretty much see where I’ve drawn in the eyebrow, but what I love is that you can still tell it’s real eyebrow hair. Plus, it helps match it to my hair colour a bit more than a blonde or brown shade.
My brows also stay put all day when using Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz which is amazing. I find that I do touch my face (and brows) throughout the day as a nervous habit, but my brows always end up lookin the same once I get home from work. But the good thing about a pencil is that you can re-apply if needed too, or re-define for a darker or more sculpted night look.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Precision: Ultra-fine tip for detailed, natural-looking strokes.
- Shade Range: Extensive selection to match all brow colors.
- Dual-Ended Design: Convenient spoolie brush for blending.
- Long-Lasting: Stays put all day without smudging or fading.
- Travel-Friendly: Slim, retractable design perfect for on-the-go use.
Cons:
- Price: Higher price point compared to some drugstore alternatives.
- Product Amount: Some users may find the pencil runs out quickly with daily use.
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It? Would I Re-Purchase ABH Brow Wiz?
I would defintely rebuy the Brow Wiz, maybe interchangeably with the Brow Definer as I do love that product too. My main focus is that Auburn colour is a god send. I love not having brown eyebrows like all the other products I’ve found and this is what makes Anastasia Beverly Hills stand out to me.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz truly lives up to its hype. Its precision, shade range, and performance make it a standout product in the crowded market of brow pencils. While it may come with a slightly higher price tag, the quality and ease of use justify the investment for those serious about achieving perfectly defined brows.
Whether you’re a makeup novice or a seasoned pro, the Brow Wiz is a reliable tool that can help you create the brows of your dreams with just a few pencil strokes.

This is the first not-black eye product I have seen, and I love the auburn color! Pencils have always been a struggle with me, but this makes it look really easy. 🙂
Me too!! I’ve been using this for a while now and love that it’s not as harsh as black for my skintone ❤️
