Authors I NEED to read more of šŸ˜ | Backlist Authors šŸ“š

So I’ve been thinking of how to defeat my backlog and TBR, and one of the ways that I think might be pretty fun is reading by author as hopefully I’ll get fully invested/obsessed and just want to KEEP READING. Some of these authors are ones I know of or have the books on my shelf (likely gifted) and just havenā€™t read them yet OR itā€™s going back through a new fav authors backlist after reading one lately.

Stephen King

One of the main author backlists Iā€™m gonna want to read is Stephen King, and not just because I already own a massive amount of his books. Known for his horror, King also delves into more fantasy every so often such as with Fairy Tale which is one of his most recent novels and one that I listended to with Audible. But because of this key crossover, my family have often bought me his books – especially when finding them second hand – because they think Iā€™ll love them.

Mark Lawrence

Iā€™ve already read a few of Mark Lawrenceā€™s series, including Book of the Ancestor and Book of the Ice, both of which I LOVED. So I definitely need to pick up his earlier works like The Broken Empire and The Red Queenā€™s War. Iā€™ve also already picked up The Book That Wouldnā€™t Burn which is his latest novel.

Joe Abercrombie

Iā€™ve always been hearing about Joe Abercrombie in the fantasy circle, however it wasnā€™t until I picked up the Age of Madness Trilogy that I realised that I really do need to pick up his First Law trilogy. Iā€™m currently trying (and failing) to read The Blade Itself on audible, but may have to pick up a physical copy as my brain isnā€™t focused.

Agatha Christie

This one might feel a bit left field for me, BUT my Aunt loves Agatha Christie and has been collected the books for years. I really want to take some time to pick these up and have a chat with my Aunt about them and maybe this year is the year.

Taylor Jenkins Reid

A few years back I KEPT hearing about The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (amazingly confused with the Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle – which I did love!). Then it was Daisy Jones & the Six, and then it hit me that both these really hyped books were by the same author. I know a few people just love all her works, so Iā€™m hoping to pick up both of these hyped books and some of Reidā€™s backlist too.

John Gwynne

I seem to already own the first book of each of Gwynneā€™s series either on my kindle or in paperback, so Iā€™m thinking I need to both read these first books and the rest of the series. Gwynne is one of those author names that come up when youā€™re talking popular new fantasy and I really want to see what the hype is about.

Neil Gaiman

With the second season of Good Omens popping out recently, I have of course already been on Neil Gaiman backlist. Iā€™ve read a few of his smaller novels like Coraline as a child (which scared me for life), but Iā€™ve recently picked up American Gods (so I can watch the TV show) and also The Ocean at the End of the Lane which I saw the theatre version of not that long ago.

Terry Pratchett

Speaking of Good Omens, we canā€™t not include Terry Pratchett on this list. I have always been meaning to pick up and start the Discworld series and just never quite got round to it. I think once Iā€™m ending my Gaiman binge Iā€™ll read Good Omens and have a nice transition into Prachett.
