Below I’m going to compare the Body Shop Aloe Eye Defense and the Elderflower Eye Gel as these are the eye creams I personally like to use. I’m sure many of you are asking yourself why I need to use eye creams, and really it’s mostly due to dry eczema and puffiness from irritation. I use both of them as they each combat a particular problem and so I use whichever I think is best on that day.
Body Shop Aloe Eye Defense
Body Shop Aloe Eye Defense is a lightweight silky moisturiser and it works especially well to reduce any irritation or puffiness around my eyes. It has a cooling effect as you apply it which then turns to a ‘tight’ feeling which is probably combating any sagging and wrinkles. My skin also feels really soft afterwards so the tight feeling isn’t an affect of dryness which I was worried about the first time I tried it. I usually use Aloe Defense when my eyes are feeling quite sore and puffy. So when I’ve been staring at a screen all day or when I’ve been studying in harsh lighting as it really just soothes them so when I wake up the next day they’re back to normal. Aloe defense also has pump dispenser to get the cream so there’s very little waste of product – just one pump is usually good for both eyes.
You can buy it here for £12 per 15ml
Body Shop Elderflower Eye Gel
Body Shop Elderflower Eye Gel is unperfumed and so it’s great for sensitive skin. Like the Aloe Defense it doesn’t irritate at all. It’s got an amazing cooling effect when applied similar to the Aloe Defense but because its a gel consistency it does sink into the skin as fast. I find that the Elderflower Gel is much more moisterising than the Aloe Defense, but doesn’t reduce puffiness as much. Normally I use the Elderflower gel when my eczema has flared up on my face. This is because it doesn’t irritate and it really soothes and hydrates the scaly patches so I can hide the patches more easily as well as make them heal better. I also use this one if my eyes just look a bit dry or my makeup just isn’t sitting right as it’s a better moisturiser and helps to make my skin smoother.
You can buy it here for £7.50 per 15ml
