As I feel more and more tired due to long hours and insomnia keeping me up, my bags have been getting heavier and darker. So, I’ve started to use All About Eyes as part of my daily routine to try and counteract this a bit. It’s definitely not been perfect, and the best thing I can do is try to get more sleep, but I do love how my skin doesn’t look quite as dull as I expected.
Main Ingredients and Their Benefits
Cyclopentasiloxane is mainly used as a conditioner, delivery agent, lubricant and solvent. Like all other silicones, this ingredient has a unique fluidity that makes it easily spreadable and acts as a mild water repllent by forming a protective barrier on the skin. It can also fill in fine lines and wrinkles, giving the face a temporary “plump” look.
Water acts as a solvent and enables multiple other chemicals to work much better than if they were without water. As water is water, it is also suitable for all skin types and won’t be over-drying or make skin oilier.
Isostearyl Palmitate is sourced from oil and has similar properties to other common oils. It can increase the skin penetration of other substances and has skin conditioning, moisturising, anti static and binging properties.
Polyethylene is often used for it’s ability to bond other ingredients together. It can also be used to dilute solids, increase the thickness of formulas, or help keep emulsions from separating into oil and water components. It dries to form a thin coating on the skin, hair or nails.
Butylene Glycol is a solvent, viscosity-decreasing agent and a conditioner. This helps reduce the product from drying out and works well in anti-aging products as it helps retain moisture.
Polysilicone-11 is a specialized, synthetic cross-linked siloxane (a type of silicone) that functions as a film-forming agent. The film left behind has water-binding properties and leaves a smooth feel on skin.
Mulberry Root Extract has shown potential to brighten and improve the look of uneven skin tone. It also works as an antioxidant and is non-irritating.
Caffeine is used in skincare to improve the look of cellulite and puffiness around the eyes. Although, there’s a mixed scientific response as to whether it is effective.
Green Tea Extract has antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic properties. It also has shown anti-inflammatory effects in relation to UV releated inflammation and Rosacea.
Glycerin promotes skin cell maturation which can help fight effects of skin problems such as psoriasis whilst improving the appearance of skin in general. It is a humecant and helps the skin maintain it’s moisture which in turn makes the skin look healthier.
Dimethicone is a type of silicon that aids the product to glide onto your skin and also acts as a barrier after application. Dimethicone is used to protect mild skin irritations, dry patches or healing wounds, and is effective at locking in moisture thanks to its larger molecules.
First Thoughts
I keep getting this small sample tub mixed up with the Moisture Surge ones. They have the similar pink packaging and the actual product does look quite similar apart from a slight differing of colour. So I was both excited and hesitant to try this eye cream because I’ve already used so many moisturising products from Clinique which can give me brightening effects.
During Use
When I first used it I found that the formula was less like a cream and more of a gel. It was thicker than expected and I had picked up way too much for the small area around my eyes. A little really goes a long way.
It does however glide on really easily, as the formula is really spreadable. You don’t need too much to cover your entire lid and under eye. The product also doesn’t feel too heavy on the sensitve area of skin.
After Use
I definitely felt like my eyes looked brighter and less tired. I don’t think it works as an anti-aging formula though, which I think others have mentioned. I have very small lines forming in my corner and they don’t seem to have changed at all when using this cream.
Would I Purchase Again?
Probably not. I actually prefer the pep-start eye cream that Clinique makes over this one just because it’s an easy application. I also find that All About Eyes is a little bit too similar to moisture surge, which I would be more inclined to purchase.
