Clinique’s 3 Step programme has been getting a lot of attention on social media. I’ve seen so many people say how good it was for their skin and that it really works as a good routine. I decided to start out with Cliniques Liquid Facial Soap to test and review. Clinique’s Liquid Facial Soap usually comes in a large bottle with a pump, but this sample is a simple tube so I had to play by ear how much is the appropriate amount to use.
Main Ingredients and Their Benefits
Sodium chloride (salt) is stimulating and cleansing and can be used both as an antiseptic and an astringent.
Phenoxyethanol is a glycol serves as an important ingredient of sun blocks and skin creams.
Sucrose (sugar) can go a long way in softening and overall improving your skin condition.
EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) helps in controlling viscosity and consequently can aid you in the use of skin care products as well as their application.
How to Use
- Massage onto a make-up free and wet face
- Rinse thoroughly and pat dry
First Thoughts
The sample I have is not for my skin type, all the products in the Clinique advent calendar were Clinique’s extra mild formulas. So I do worry that this isn’t going to help my oiliness, or it’s going to dry my skin out. I am quite relaxed about irritation though as Clinique’s extra mild range is usually good for sensitive skin. This is also the first step in the 3 Step range and it is advised to be used alongside the toner and moisturiser, which I also got.
During Use
When using this you don’t really feel much. It does foam up a bit but there’s no sensation on your skin that makes it tingle which is most likely because it’s fragrance free. I only used the smallest amount each time of using this and it covered my entire face fairly easily. It’s also easy to rinse off.
After Use
After use my skin definitely felt clean. It also didn’t feel too dry, tight or oily which is always a bonus for me as I have such a poor combination of skin types. I wouldn’t say it worked miracles straight away – I obviously still had the spots and blackheads I was suffering from before. I do think that using this daily with the other two products from Clinique’s 3 step did work really well and cleared my skin up a lot. I’ve now got some lingering red patches from spots, but no raised pimples.
Would I Purchase Again?
Definitely. I think it’s one of the best wash off cleansers I’ve tried. It doesn’t feel too harsh or too weak and actually seems to add something to my skincare routine to help my skin problems. Although it is a lot pricier than my previous cleansers, the full sized bottle does seem quite large for how little you need to use for you face. It seems like a good value product and it’s a good trade off for clear skin.
