Clinique Smart SPF 15 Custom Repair Review | Daily SPF and Moisture To Keep The Wrinkles At Bay

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been using the Clinique Smart SPF 15 Custom-Repair Moisturizer every single morning. I’ve also used the night version in my evening routine. I don’t fully know why, but I’m just automatically going to pick them from my basket of samples. They’ve both really impressed me.

Main Ingredients and Their Benefits

Avobenzone 3% absorbs the full spectrum of UVA rays and is often used in sun creams.

Octisalate 5% is a active sunscreen ingredient that absorbs the full range of UVB rays from the sun.

Glycerin promotes skin cell maturation which can help fight effects of skin problems such as psoriasis whilst improving the appearance of skin in general. It is a humecant and helps the skin maintain it’s moisture which in turn makes the skin look healthier.

Benzoic Acid is a PH adjuster and preservative that is used in many different products. It is a skin conditioning agent which improves the appearance of skin by reduces bacteria and chances of infection.

Shea Butter is naturally soothing and has moisturising properties. It contains nutrients such as Vitamin A, antioxidents such as Vitaman E and also piluphenols and phytonutrients which makes it anti-inflammatory.

Dimethicone is a type of silicon that aids the product to glide onto your skin and also acts as a barrier after application. Dimethicone is used to protect mild skin irritations, dry patches or healing wounds, and is effective at locking in moisture thanks to its larger molecules.

First Thoughts

For most ‘with SPF’ products I’m usually wary in case they’re heavy and pore clogging. I am usually happy with Clinqiue’s moisturisers though, so I didn’t have too many worries about this irritating my skin or not working.

During Use

I only used the smallest amount at first and a little really goes a long way. I’ve used this non stop for the past two weeks and I feel like I’ve barely made a dent in the sample pot. The smell isn’t too sunscreen-like which is always a bonus.

After Use

It’s a really thick product, which does take some time to absorb into my skin. Because this is for the morning I did have to mix up my routine a bit to give it time to sink in before I applied foundation. My skin felt extremely soft and smooth after use and there was no redness or irritation at all.

Would I Purchase Again?

Yes I think if I had the budget for a higher end moisturiser this would be one of my top picks. At the moment however I am on a bit of a tighter budget as I’m trying to save before I go back for my third year of university, so will not be buying anytime soon.

  1. I never thought about SPF creams being cloggy, should probably think about that next time I purchase one
My current moisturiser is completely organic but unfortunately doesn’t have spf so I try and make it up with primer etc

I think I’ve probably just had a bad experience with ones I tried as a teenager! Some people I know have been fine with them so it might depend on skin type! X
