Banish The Heat | Why I’m Not Using Heat on My Hair & Why You Shouldn’t Either!

Blowdrying. Curling. Straightening. It’s something that many girls do every single day and yes I admit that used to be me. Although my hairs naturally straight, 13 year old me was still using the straighteners everyday before school which lead to awful split ends because my hair just wasn’t being taken care of. Now I’ve formed a fairly strict no heat rule, unless i’m running late or have an event where I want curled hair.

I’ve now been mostly heat free for 5 years and as you can see my hairs gotten pretty long. Of course I do get split ends due to friction and my hairs extremely thin and fine so it knots easily. I’ve noticed though that my hair looks a lot softer and the split ends aren’t nearly as bad as before. I usually get my hair trimmed every 6 months, which works well to get rid of the dead ends I do have, while retaining a long length.

Going heat free is something I always tell my friends to try, because it’s just made my hair look better, feel better and it’s just increased my own self confidence. It also greatly reduces the time I take on my morning routine! Extra sleep is always a bonus right?

  1. I mean…I’ve always gone heat free. I don’t own straighteners, curlers or anything. I rarely use the hairdryer only use it if it’s late at night or early in the morning and its cold out. (though one time I went out and my hair was wet, it was a cold morning and frost began appearing on my hair xD) My hair rarely has any heat applied to it, or anything to it really. If I want waves then I used to get my mum to plait it, though now I French braid it which I find gives me a better curly/wavy hair.
