You know those books that you really want to read but you’ve just never gotten round to it? There always seems to be a new book that I want to read first. Or I just know I can’t purchase the whole series right now, so I buy a standalone instead. Or many other reasons which get in the way of reading particular books. Here’s five that I wish I had started reading yesterday.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
This is one of those books that everyone seems to love. I also, really want to love it. It’s currently sat on my TBR pile staring me down, but it’s so intimidating because I have such high expectations. Usually it gets pushed back for a newer book for which I don’t have such expectations.
Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
Dragonfly in Amber is on my list because really I should have finished Outlander by yesterday too. Yes, I am still not finished reading it, but at the moment, my Kindle is getting all my attention. Do I have to reiterate why I love my Kindle so much? But yeah, I just haven’t been picking up paperbacks as often recently.
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
This is another one of those books where I’ve heard so many good things about it. With Stiefvater though, I know I enjoy her writing as I read Linger when I was younger. But I don’t really know much about this book, so whenever I’m purchasing books it never makes it to the top of the list.
The Final Empire by Brian Sanderson
Sanderson has written so many books, and I really just want to jump in and read them all. I was recommended to read the Mistborn series first so that’s why I want to start The Final Empire.
The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks
Brooks is another author that I want to jump in and read all the books. He’s written so many within the Shannara universe that I got a bit confused trying to hunt down each book, but I should (hopefully) be getting them for Christmas this year.
What other books should I have read yesterday?

I totally get what you mean about high expectations- I hope you end up liking Darker Shade of Magic, Mistborn and Raven Boys- I really liked all of those.
