Lush Mask of Magnaminty Review | Fight Breakouts With Fresh Peppermint and Kaolin Clay

My skin is oft prone to breakouts as I have combination skin. When I’m trying to combat sensitivity, dryness and oiliness it’s a struggle to find a good product. Lush Mask of Magnaminty is one of these products. It works just right to get rid of spots without making my skin feel dry or oily. Lush Mask of Magnaminty was one of the first ever Lush products I tried because I had asked the shop assistant about products for spots and oily skin. She was a life-saver with this suggestion!

Lush Mask of Magnaminty

Main Ingredients and their Benefits

Peppermint Oil is cooling and enlivens the skin as the menthol inside stimulates sensory nerve endings. It has both antiseptic and antimicrobial properties and can aid oil secreation in skin. This helps to prevent acene.

Honey contains nutrients and is antiseptic, antibacterial, antioxidant and antifungal which benefits both the skin and hair. As a natural humectant it also helps attract and retain moisture.

Kaolin helps cleanse and exfoliate debris and skin cells. It absorbs moisture into itself which helps support products that are self preserving and helps keeps products fresh.

Ground Aduki Beans remove dead skin cells when used as an exfoliating powder. They polish the skin leaving it looking healthy and renewed whilst absorbing excess oils and dirt from the skin.

First Thoughts

As soon as you open up the lid you can smell the mint which is instantly refreshing – or is that just me? It definitely doesn’t look too appealing but the smell does make up for this fact. When I opened this particular one, I was expecting to see some kind of difference as they finally made a self-preserving one, but it seems to look the exact same. Hopefully it works just as well!

During Use

The mask is really quite thick and has large rough parts to help exfoliate the skin when you wash it off. I personally use a wash cloth and then try to wash the mask off the cloth as it is quite messy. But because it’s also an exfoliator you can use your hands to really scrub your skin. You can use this mask as an all over face mask, or just for problem areas because it’s ingredients are really good for spots. You can also apply to your back and chest if these are problematic for you,

After Use

After I used this my skin felt really fresh and clean. The mint had cooled my skin and my spots seemed to have dried up a bit but did not form painful scabs. Because it also exfoliates my skin felt soft and my dry patches felt like they were smoother. I’ve also used this when I have eczema and it does help to reduce dryness and it doesn’t irritate too much. As it’s antiseptic it actually helps weeping eczema as it keeps it clean while reducing the other symptoms.

Would I Purchase Again?

The Mask of Magnaminty is definitely one of my favourite products and couldn’t recommend it enough. Especially if you’re spot prone or have acne! I’ll be purchasing this over and over and over again.

  1. I’ve recently been using the mask of magnanimity as a spot treatment rather than an all over mask! I put it on before bed and it works amazingly! You should really try it xx

Are there two versions of this?
As I have a non preserving one, is there a difference?

Yeah I’m pretty sure they have a self-preserving and a non-preserving one! I’m not fully sure if they still have both or not though x

  3. This sounds like a product I need for my skin. Thanks for the tip ♥

  4. Have you tried this on sore skin? I have sensitive skin and find that I can get rashes sometimes on my face. Does this work on skin that has a rash?

I love Lush products but haven’t tried this mask before! I love the products that smell more like lavender or citrus fruits though.

  6. You make blogging look easy! This review is so well set out and I like how you suggest other products too!

Mask of Magnaminty seems like a great product and I’m happy you liked it so much.

I’ve been trying to find a good mask for acne – does this help reduce pimples and redness?

Mask of Magnaminty looks like a wonderful product, but did you find that it was good for acne? I get a lot of spots and pimples and I’m looking for some new producst to help.

I find it works really well to reduce spots and helps them heal up pretty quick! Not a miracle cure but in a couple of days the spots are normally reduced a lot and are both dried out and then moisturised.

Great review! I’ve got a few questions though, does mask of magnaminty need to be refrigerated? And if not, when does mask of magnaminty expire?

You can purchase a ‘Self-Preserving’ version of Mask of Magnaminty which doesn’t need to be refridgerated, althought there is a version that does! I found that the self-preserving one can last a couple of months, but because the pots are usually small this is plenty of time to use all the product.
