With my reading slump finally over I’ve been able to read 6 books in the month of March and I have the goal to read 8 in June.
If you don’t want to watch the video then scroll down to see my read books and TBR pile.
Read
After a reading slump I always turn to fantasy to get me back into reading. With a lot of fantasy reading done, from YA to epic I’m back on the reading train for a while.

The Diminished
Kaitlyn Sage Patterson
A wonderful premise but I felt like it had a few holes every now and then. I’ve already uploaded a full review if you want to hear more about my thoughts on The Diminished.
| Amazon | Waterstones |
Ace of Shades
Amanda Foody
Ace of Shades has great world building, characters and magic system but suffers from being overly hyped by other book bloggers and booktubers. I’d heard so much that I was slightly let down by this read and I also have a full review already.

Onyx & Ivory
Mindee Arnett
I really enjoyed Onyx & Ivory but found a few things that I disliked such as the heavy romance focus in places and that some things weren’t fully explained. But as it’s the start of a series I can give the loose threads a little bit of leeway.

To Kill a Kingdom
Alexandra Christo
A Little Mermaid retellings are always a good choice for me. I loved the dark cast that is more like Grimm than Disney as it contains deadly sirens and a violent siren hunter.
| Amazon | Waterstones |
Children of Blood and Bone
Tomi Adeyemi
Children of Blood and Bone has great world building, character development and a complicated but also well explained magic system which I adore.
| Amazon | Waterstones |
The Sword of Shannara
Terry Brooks
The Sword of Shannara was a bit of a disappointment due to the clear plagiarism of Lord of the Rings. If you want to read all my thoughts about the copying read my review. Hopefully the next book will be better.
TBR
Although fantasy (my one true love) managed to pull me out the slump I’ve actually picked a couple of non-fantasy books to expand my reading this month.
| Amazon | Waterstones |
The Wendy
Erin Michelle Sky and Steven Brown
Who doesn’t love a Peter Pan retelling? Especially when Wendy is a strong female who wants to join the Navy even though she’s a girl.
| Amazon | Waterstones |
Night of the Lightbringer
Peter Tremayne
As part of the Sister Fidelma series I’m slightly worried I won’t be able to get into this as well as if I had read all the books. But it does sound intriguing!
| Amazon | Waterstones |
The Ninth Rain
Jen Williams
I’m excited to read the sequel but need to remind myself of what happened in The Ninth Rain first!
| Amazon | Waterstones |
Elfstones of Shannara
Terry Brooks
I’m hoping Elfstones will be better than Sword. But it is what the TV show is based on so I’m assuming it’s more action packed?
| Amazon |
Blood Will Out
Jo Treggiari
A YA thriller/horror is a bit different but much needed to expand my reading!
| Amazon | Waterstones |
Clockwork City
Paul Crilley
After reading Poison City I couldn’t wait to get back to Paul Crilleys writing!
| Amazon | Waterstones |
Bookish Boyfriends: A Date with Darcy
Tiffany Schmidt
Completely different genre as a YA Contemporary but I’m up for something new! Especially as it follows a book worm…
| Amazon | Waterstones |
The Call of the Rift
Jae Waller
I’m going to try and read Call of the Rift again as my reading slump could be the reason I didn’t enjoy it the first time round.
If you’ve read or heard of any of the books on my TBR let me know if you liked them!

This gave me some books to add to my goodreads list! I read COBAB last month and while I thought the world-building was neat, it didn’t blow my socks off for some reason.
I know what you mean! Think it was hyped up a lot and that always makes books a slight disappointment!
