Pixi Glow Tonic is one of those products that everyone seems to be talking about. And not just recently either, it’s been a long held cult product for many. So when I saw a Pixi stall at Stylist Live I decided to pick it up and check if the hype was worth it.
Main Ingredients and their Benefits
Aloe Vera is an effective moisturiser and is also anti-inflammatory. This makes it useful in treating burns, rashes and skin conditions such as psoriasis.
Witch Hazel is a skin conditioning agent which enhances the appearance of dry or damaged skin to reduce flaking and restore the suppleness of the skin.
Horse Chestnut is high in saponins which posses potent anti-inflammatory properties. It inhibits the breakdown of hyaluronic acid in the skin which helps maintain tissue repair. There’s also been scientific studies to show that it has anti-aging properties.
Glycolic Acid (5%) provides an even exfoliation, brightens skin, restores healthy pH to skin, removes blackheads and fine lines, and treats pigmentation, acne and other skin conditions.
Glycerin promotes skin cell maturation which can help fight effects of skin problems such as psoriasis whilst improving the appearance of skin in general. It is a humecant and helps the skin maintain it’s moisture which in turn makes the skin look healthier.
First Thoughts
As with any product that is hyped I was worried this wouldn’t really work. It’s an exfoliating toner which should make it really good for dryer skin as it will help remove the dry skin cells. I am hesitant as to whether it will help with my oily areas and whether it will help with breakouts although it does contain gycolic acid.
During Use
When applying to your face you don’t really feel anything. I’d previously been using Cliniques 3 step Toner which is more alcohol based so I was a bit unsure as to whether this would work as well. It’s got a strange smell to it that I can’t quite put my finger on.
After Use
It’s extremely gentle on the skin and my skin didn’t turn red or blotchy. So I would say this is a great toner for sensitive skin. Immediately after use my dry patches did look and feel a bit smoother and by the end of the week they were clearing up nicely.
I was wrong to be hesitant about breakouts as my skin does look extremely clear after use. Because of it’s anti-inflammatory ingredients the hormonal spots that pop up actually feel and look smaller than they usually would. They’re also clearing up faster for me.
Is it Worth the Hype?
I would say it’s a pretty good toner and works exactly how I need it to. Is it a miracle product though? Probably not. I think this is on par with how Cliniques toner works for my skin. The only real difference is that Cliniques is more likely to be an irritant to some people due to the ingredients used. Pixi Glow Tonic is much more natural in it’s ingredients as it uses aloe, witch hazel and horse chestnut over.
Would I Purchase Again?
I would probably purchase the Pixi Glow Tonic again, but only if I know I can afford it as it is more expensive than my other options. It’s not going to become a staple that is necessary to buy in my routine, but it does work effectively for me and would be something I would pick up as and when I feel like it.

I’ve been so torn as to whether or not to try this as it’s so expensive but it sounds really good! Great review!
Suffering Wanderlust
I think if you have the income then it’s a nice choice as it doesn’t irritate the skin at all and it does work! But if you already have a toner that does the same job then it might not be worth it!
Thanks for reading Dani! x
This is such a useful review. I love how you are always so honest about everything you review! Thanks ❤️
Glad you liked it Maud! x
Thanks for the useful review! I bought one of the smaller bottles a couple of weeks ago, and have been using it for about a week now, so it’s a bit early to have a clear opinion on it. Totally agree about the weird scent though! To me it has some kind of musty floral scent that reminds me of an old lady’s perfume haha!
Yes! It smells like something in my grandma’s house but I could not tell you what it was!
Hope it works well for you!
Oh I’ve not heard of
This. I tend to stick to what I know but if I fancy a bit of a splurge I’ll grab some and check it out x
I always feel like I’m missing something with this stuff, everyone seems to love it. I find the fragrance and witch hazel incredibly irritating on my sensitive skin. Glad your skin liked it though! Great review x

I loved this honest review. I’ve had my eye on the Pixi Glow Tonic, but like you say I’m always a bit sceptical about such hyped up products! Lovely post xx
I’ve never tried any Pixi products. I would like to though but I never see them around. It does sound nice and as I have sensitive skin, I’d probably give it a go! X
I’ve seen this floating around a lot so it’s great to read a good review on it! Very interested in trying it out as it sounds right up my alley for my skin type ☺️ Thanks for sharing!
