Winter skin is the WORST for me. I get very dry skin in colder and windier months unfortunately, which is why I picked up multiple skincare products in my LookFantastic Haul. Including the REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk.
I’d heard many good things about REN Skincare, especially for it’s moisturising properties and natural ingredients especially with the Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk. Perfect for my problems, right?

First Thoughts
My first thoughts after opening this product is how strong it smells. This immediately made me hesistant due to fragrance often being an irritant to my sensitive skin. However, after looking into the ingredients, they all seemed natural and I thought I’d see how I felt after a few days.
I was also excited to see that it was Cruelty Free and also free from allergens and potentially harmful ingredients such as parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, petrolatum, silicons and synthetic colours and (un-natural) fragrances. Plus plenty of hyrdrating ingredients which are good for soothing, softening and protecting the skin.
For some skin context – my skin was extremely dry when I first started using this cleanser. Between the cold air and wind, being ill over Christmas and drinking copious amounts of wine – my skin had been dry and flakey.
During Use
Initially REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk does feel slightly greasy on your hands. Although the greasiness reduced once massaging the product and after use. It also doesn’t lather like usual face cleansers do due to lack of foaming ingredients, which can be harmful to skin health.
Overall the strong smell felt comforting due to the lavender and rose undertones in the cleansing milk. Plus, as you use the product the formula immediately feels like it helps moisturise and soothe the skin.

After Use
The REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk helps your skin look silky soft and super clean. Whilst still using an initial make up remover is helpful – it works well to remove my powder and liquid foundations. Eye makeup is much tougher, and leaves streaks with this cleanser though.
My skin can normally look red and angry after showering – but when using this calming cleanser I found that it minimised signs of irritation and sensitivity. I didn’t use it when I had a patch of eczema on my face, but I firmly believe it will work well with eczema to not irritate and help relieve itchiness.
Whilst it felt greasy at first, it doesn’t look greasy after use. Luckily it also doesn’t dry the skin out and I found my skin felt moisturised before I followed the rest of my skincare routine. Unfortunately, I did have a poor breakout in the week I started using the prodict, howevr I could attribute this to a change in lifestyle as I was in London a lot with pollutants, or dietary, or just getting used to the product. The cleanser does state it should protect the skin from pollutants, but I can’t say this was for certain because of this issues.
Another bonus is that you can recycle the REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk. Just separate cap, pump and bottle. Cap and bottle are 100% recyclable, unfortunatekt the pump is not currently recyclable.
Would I Re-Purchase?
Overall, I really liked the REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk. It’s a good cleanser which leaves your skin feeling smooth and moistirised but most importantly clean.

I love that you can recycle so much of the packaging.
This cleansing milk sounds like it smells amazing, I love lavender and rose.

Me too! I’m trying to find more products that have recycleable parts because using too much plastic is a huge turn off! x
