Whilst in lockdown I’ve defintely been feeling that urge to snack… and snack… and snack some more. So what better way to snack than getting some insta-worthy shots at the same time to feel “productive” on the blog gram. Sugar Tits is a London based treats brand that has cakes, cookies and candy on offer.
SOS Snacks is right, and I opted for the SOS Treat Box from Sugar Tits which can be a monthly subscription or a one off. (I chose a one-off this time to try and keep some semblance of self control). Each month the different treat boxes features new selections of the Sugar Tits collection, letting you try out the newest and best snacks on offer.
The snacks came in this small branded box, with tissue paper and a menu card. The box isn’t quite small enough to fit through a post box, however all the items were delivered in perfect quality as the tissue does pack in the items safely.
Blueberry Lemonade Marshmallows
First up I tried the blueberry lemondade marshmallows which come in this small bag of three. Normally with marshmallows I’m a “eat the whole bag of 20” kinda gal, but I’m also not a huge marshmallow fan. I’d defintely choose other sweet treats first and so I tried thse marshmallows first.
There is only three in a bag, but they are super sweet so three is enough. These aren’t your average marshmallow and the strong taste makes it so that you wouldn’t be able to handle a huge bag. Whilst these are blueberry lemonade flavoured, the lemon taste can be quite overpowering between the two.
These marshmallows also have a lot of sugar and a lot of powder on them. So they’re extremely sweet but also a bit dry. The centre has so additional flavouring as you can see in the photo below, however it doesn’t lift that dryness. But, this is usually the issue with marshmallow’s and is a reason why I usually don’t jump on them!
If I was to choose from Sugar Tit’s collection I probably wouldn’t pick these up again – however they were a nice treat. Plus it was something different, which is a key thing for these treat boxes.
Birthday Cake Batter Mallow Crispie Bar
The next treat was a Sugar Tits Birthday Cake Batter Mallow Crispie Bar. Very simply – these are a rice crispie bar with some marshmallow fluff, icing and sprinkles. It tastes really good, but I was very conscious that I could have made these myself for a lot less than £5 which is the approximate price for the item.
First up lets talk about the actual crispie cake part. So the rice crispies have been mixed with cake batter and something like marshmallow fluff. So the cake is sticky rather than try and it holds together very well. The good thing is that when you’re eating it, it doesnt’ break apart in your hands and it tastes good. However, it is quite a tough snack and because it was so hot in my flat I’d put all snacks that could possibly melt in my fridge. This is a bad idea as it made the cake almost solid when trying to eat.
Despite putting it in the fridge the chocolate icing wasn’t too hard to eat. The bar was about half dipped in white chocolate which gave an added sweetness, plus let’s face it… it looks better in Instagram photos this was. But, I would have preferred to have the whole thing in chocolate – I may be a bit of a chocolate fiend though.
Then adding to the birthday cake fun, the sprinkles were added. I liked this touch because adding sprinkles just automatically makes the treat happier right? I can’t remember the last time I had sprinkles, but it was nice to have something that was a bit more fun for my daily treat.
Red Velvet & Cream Cheese Cookie
Then we had what I think was my favourite addition to the box – the Sugar Tits Red Velvet & Cream Cheese cookie. I like red velvet cake so I rightly assumed I’d love it in cookie form too. It also has some chocolate chips which just adds that bit extra to it.
I want to learn how to make red velvet cookies after eating this. I think the worst thing about this cookie is that there is only one. I just feel that if you have a cookie, it should be multiples. This cookie also isn’t a large one, it’s small-medium. So in conclusion, I would like more cookies.
Similar to the cake bar it has some fun sprinkles and white chocolate icing which includes cream cheese too. Unlike the cake bar though, I don’t think this cookie needed the icing. I liked the cookie on it’s own as well as with the icing – but I do think the icing was more of a gram-worthy element than adding to the taste.
Chocolate Fudge Cake & Salted Caramel Pretzel Cake Pot
Next up was the Sugar Tits Chocolate Fudge Cake & Salted Caramel Pretzel Cake Pot which was… different. I feel like Cake Pot’s are not for me – I’d rather just have a cake. I’d also prefer a bigger portion too if I’m honest with myself.
The salted caramel was to die for. I found it to be the most overpowering of the layers in the pot, but it made me want more. As you can see from my first spoonful, there’s an issue of getting a right balance of all the different layers. The pots are long but they should probably be wider to have a better mix when eating.
Within the pot there’s also a lor more of the cream layers than cake which makes it taste so much sweeter overall. But I did want more cake within the pot. I’m not sure if more cake maybe made it more dry and that’s why there’s less? But I do think it was missing something.
Let’s talk about the pretzel. The pretzel on top of the cake pot appears to be the only pretzel thing about this pot and I’m not fully sure why. You have to eat the pretzel in one bite too because (at least for me) the spoon didn’t break it when eating.
On top of this, I just don’t get the need for pretzels. They’re not sweet so it doesn’t quite match the fudge and caramel in the pot and I found it to be an odd choice of decoration.
Millionaire Shortbread Choc Bloc
Last but not least Sugar Tits has this gorgeous Millionaire Shortbread Choc Bloc which has shortbread and caramerl within the chocolate bar. Plus some fancy edible gold foiling on the outside which makes it swoon-worthy on the gram.
I feel like the gold parts were pretty weird tbh. It was very crackly but also I couldn’t tell if it was edible straight away. It also doesn’t add anything to the taste, so if you wanna pull it off after taking some photos then that is fine too.
The chocolate itself is super sweet and I feel like it’s closer to american chocolate than the usual british stuff. This added with the shortbread texture and the caramel really created a sweet treat with great taste.
There’s also a lot of caramel. This isn’t your usual dairy milk level of caramel, there’s a lot in here. This alongside the shortbread meant that it wasn’t too sticky or too dry though.
One thing I want to say is this is the first chocolate bar that I could put down. All the different layers make it almost sickly sweet so I could only stomach a couple of squares at once. Plus, the square are a bit larger than the average chocolate bar.
I don’t recall ever having chocolate that also included shortbread, and honestly it is winning. It gives a really odd texture which you end up loving because it’s like you don’t even need to make a choice betweeen chocolate and biscuits.
Overall I thought Sugar Tits Treat box was a great adventure away from my normal snacks. Great for gifts or a small treat every so often but maybe not a monthly thing. It made me think of different things I could possible bake at home too, so some red velvet cookies and some white chocolate dipped rice crispies cakes make be in the works. Maybe some less sugary versions too as my skin does like to break out when I have snacks, so my skincare game has also had to be upped.
What snacks and companies have you been loving whilst in lockdown?
